Hey, look up
You don't have to be a ghost
Hidden amongst the living
You are flesh and blood
And you deserve to be loved
And you deserve what you are given

Florence + the Machine

I'm Sarah (she/they), queer AF, neurodivergent, made by immigrants, and I kind of like to take pictures (a lot). When I had hit college and faced the question of, "What the heck am I going to do with my life?" I found a special interest in fashion photography. With that tangible direction, I took classes in fashion, art, and, of course, photography.

I shot my first wedding, an intimate family elopement, at the Mount Washington Overlook in 2010. It was a favor, really, because I honestly didn't think it'd be my thing. After I sent off the gallery, I realized, oops, it was definitely my thing after all.

I dropped the whole fashion thing, and now I pick up the camera for something near and dear to my heart: celebrations of love.

let's go, baby.

a modern love story

should be captured authentically & compassionately.

My own love story has been one of perseverance, although we didn't exactly have a choice in that. When someone asks us, "How long have the two of you been married?" The answer's complicated, because we were together years before marriage was legal for the queer community, and we remember very well when the state we were living in at the time, California, voted to repeal marriage equality. The feelings from that night never go away.

But because of this, I adamantly celebrate the funky and quirky love stories, the love that defied adversity and hardships, and the love that eschews tradition. Not only am I here to capture those important moments on your big day (or days), but I'm your fierce cheerleader, and I will cry during your vow exchange.

With me, you have a safe space to be your most honest, true selves.

It's more than a moment, it's the next chapter in your story, and I want to capture your narrative. You put in so much time and so much thought into this singular celebration, and then the time arrives, and it blows past you in a blur. What did your cookie table look like? What did the decorations look like? What did you look like?

But also: What did your vows feel like? What about your first dance? What did it feel like when you took a break from the chaos of festivities to watch the sunset together? And how hard did everyone laugh when that particular relative or friend of yours did that really silly version of the Wobble?

Memories are three-dimensional. When you see your photos, I want you to reexperience everything all over again, to always feel the way you felt in that moment.

Love is wondrous and powerful,

and I want to capture the way your love feels.

As you search for your perfect camera person, truly hone in on their vibe and look for values you share. Oftentimes, your photographer spends more time with you on your wedding day than even your soon-to-be forever person (or people). It's wild to think about, but it's true!

fall in love with your photographer.

(no, seriously.)

Let's sit down together at your favorite coffee shop and get to know each other. Whether you're newly engaged without a plan or you've already got your dream wedding in mind, I want to know about your story.

I will exclusively be taking on weddings that I think are a good fit. If you're looking to break some rules and challenge the norm, let's do it. Also keep in mind: when in doubt, reach out!

Think we're a match?

Cool. Let's go.

Ready to boogie?

Special thanks to these photographer friends for providing me the opportunities to capture many of the wonderful moments depicted here: Nadine Photography, Steven Dalton Photography, Kathryn Hyslop Photography, & Kayla Lynn Photos.
